This Position is for a Collegiate Academy Counselor & Career Coach – JC with an educational institution with opportunity in Gautier.
Summary: The Collegiate Academy Counselor and Career Coach serves as the primary point person for the Jackson County or Jefferson Davis Campus Collegiate Academy program. The position reports directly to the Campus Assistant Dean of Teaching and Learning and serves as the counselor and liaison between the College and the high schools for students participating in the program. The position works closely with Student Services staff to manage, operate, and coordinate routine admissions, financial aid, and registrar functions for high school students enrolled in these programs. The position serves as the campus administrator of the Career Coach software and Career Exploration Center.
Duties and Responsibilities include: Administer College and statewide dual enrollment policies and procedures related to Collegiate Academy and dual credit. Promote and develop Collegiate Academy at local high schools, private schools, and within the homeschool community. Respond to phone calls and other inquiries related to dual credit and Collegiate Academy. Prepare and distribute communication to dual credit faculty, high school counselors, and other stakeholders related to dual credit/dual enrollment procedures, calendar of dates and deadlines, and policies and procedures. Coordinate with Admissions on student paperwork and forms required for dual credit. Receive dual credit/Collegiate Academy student transcripts and enrollment verification forms required for Admissions compliance. Work with Admissions, Enrollment Services, and IT staff in troubleshooting dual credit student application issues and student holds. Coordinate with Admissions, Enrollment Services, Financial Aid, and the Business Office to provide support for dual credit and Collegiate Academy students. Facilitate dual credit student orientation sessions with Admissions, Campus Bookstore, Campus Police, and Business Office. Coordinate priority registration and advising for Collegiate Academy students. Register dual credit students. Provide Business Office with accurate dual credit/Collegiate Academy rosters for each semester’s billing of local school systems. Maintain accurate dual credit course rosters. Update Business Office regarding dual credit student withdrawals. Collect and enter attendance, midterm grades, and final grades for dual credit courses. Run end-of-term transcripts for Collegiate Academy student cohorts and submit semester updates to high school counselors and administration. Run and transmit Collegiate Academy student transcripts to high school counselors each semester. Generate reports to use in the monitoring of Collegiate Academy student attendance, grades, general progress, and program retention. Serve as campus administrator for Career Coach (software). Monitor user profiles in Career Coach and request site edits from EMSI. Update minor changes in Career Coach, including updates to programs, links, and other information. Manage the Employer Portal within Career Coach, and work with partner companies to post job announcements for our students directly to our site. Manage the campus Career Exploration Centers providing students access to Career Coach and other physical information such as a job posting board, college brochures, and employment information. Provide career exploration workshops to current students as well as to the general public. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements include: Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution. Demonstrated ability to plan strategically and implement programs/initiatives. Demonstrated leadership, supervision, and managerial experience. Exceptional organization skills in handling, managing and prioritizing multiple projects. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong presentation skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with others and work in a team environment.
Desired: Experience in a community college and/or higher education setting. Experience with SCT Banner software. Work experience in a multi-campus community college environment.
