This position is for a Manufacturing Ballistics Engineer with a company in Oxford, MS.
Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for detailed phases of major Ballistics engineering programs. Draws on engineering principles, statistical tools and experience to develop solutions to complex problems and tasks. Major focus on Propellant management for Winchester products ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Determine qualification and selection of propellants for Winchester products. Develop and oversee Ballistics data acquisition hardware and software. Review Ballistics aspects of Military and Law Enforcement contracts to assure full compliance with all specifications/contract requirements. At as Ballistics liaison to the Process Engineering and the New Product Development Departments. Develop and maintain Ballistics inspection plans. Design Ballistics test equipment and fixtures as required. Participate on or lead teams assigned to investigate potential or reported quality problems. Develop appropriate Ballistics reports. Generate and review Ballistics procedures. Monitor product quality and effectively utilize department assets to minimize scrap and loader downtime. Maintain records pertinent to the job assignment. Conduct engineering investigations to determine Root Cause/Corrective Action for process and product issues. Support Continuous Improvement Initiatives, Quality objects, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Safety Initiatives. Support Winchester CIP, CE, and SAAMI initiatives as required. OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTORS Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Establish a good working relationship with engineering and production personnel. Must possess the ability to translate concepts into coherent communications and presentations. Ensure work complies with policies and professional standards. Meet or exceed Olin requirements relating to deadlines and attendance. Ability to communicate with customers, co-workers, and management within areas of responsibility. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management. Perform other duties as directed by management. Education and Experience: Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related technical field. Minimum of one (1) years recent related Engineer experience with five (5) years preferred. Must possess excellent leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, presentation, and report writing/structuring skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD Inventor, and Solid Works. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSE PREFERRED Five (5) years recent experience in an ammunition or propellant manufacturing facility. Experience using automated data acquisition systems linked to databases. Related experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Project management experience with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ammunition and firearm experience along with knowledge of the shooting sports industry. SAP experience.
