This is a position for a (SMT Engineer) located in Brookhaven.
Summary: As a SMT Engineer on our team, you’ll be responsible for coordinating the SMT efforts on new program launches, setting up and/or revising manufacturing processes for current programs. Assisting the manufacturing operations in problem solving and continuous process improvements: Reduced Scrap, Increase OE, Reduced Cycle Time. Documents and presents findings of the improvements to management. Implementing the improvements and it at the floor. Lead SMT process through support manufacturing Operations. Responsible for overseeing tooling, fixture, and gauge design and engineering drawing mark- ups per job launch plans.
Duties and Responsibilities: The control process engineer will be responsible for programming existing SMT equipment, assist in defect reductions, and improving OEE. Secondary responsibility will include supporting existing manufacturing lines in production. Support operation of SMT line including solder paste dispensing, solder paste inspection, terminal inserter machine, pick and place machinery, reflow oven, conformal coating dispensing machine ,automated optical inspections. Develop, program, and improve all SMT processes. Optimize/setup programs to improve equipment efficiencies and output. Develop, evaluate, and improve the manufacturing process and reduce downtime through creation of known good conditions, and improving change-over methods. Ability to reduce cycle time and provide training necessary to meet KPI targets. Support the cross functional team as needed. Maintain and write work instructions, control plans, process flow, and process failure modes effects analysis documents. Administers and ensures compliance with current safety policies. The ideal candidate will have experience with soldering, de-soldering, inspection, and rework of electronic components using industry-standard equipment and practices. This role is fully onsite. Perform rework and repair of SMT and through-hole components on PCBs. Inspect and verify component placement and solder quality according to IPC standards. Maintain accurate records of rework performed and communicate status to supervisors or quality teams. Assist in troubleshooting and resolving assembly issues related to SMT process.
Job Specifications or Qualifications: Bachelor of Engineering OR in lieu of a Bachelors’ degree, a High School Diploma AND 8 + years’ experience as a SMT Engineer in a Clean room plant, preferably Automotive products.
