This is a job for a R&D Engineer - Instrument Transformers position with a company located in the Richland, MS area. 

The Opportunity: Join a team where innovation powers the future. At Hitachi Energy's Technology Center North America, we're shaping the next generation of high voltage equipment for electrical substations. As part of our Grid Components team, you'll help develop instrument transformers-critical components that ensure safe, accurate power transmission across global networks. This is your chance to work in a collaborative, international environment where your ideas and expertise will directly influence cutting-edge solutions in power distribution and protection. You'll be part of a cross-functional R&D team, reporting to a supportive Team Manager, and surrounded by passionate professionals driving real impact. Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines.

How You'll Make an Impact: Lead and contribute to international R&D projects introducing new products. Apply advanced techniques to develop and enhance high voltage components. Deliver timely, cost-effective, and high-quality project outcomes. Provide technical support to meet customer needs and improve product performance. Support mechanical and electrical testing in internal and external labs. Assist in supplier qualification and maintain technical documentation. Identify and manage intellectual property risks and opportunities. Collaborate across disciplines to drive innovation and continuous improvement.

Your Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Experience in the electro-mechanical industry, preferably with high voltage or power transformers. Skilled in CAD and 3D modeling tools (e.g., PTC Creo). Familiarity with PLM systems (e.g., PTC Windchill). Strong communication and documentation skills. Comfortable working in cross-functional, international teams.
