Financial Aid Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY:


The Financial Aid Assistant is responsible for assisting the Director of Financial Aid in all aspects of


processing federal, state, and institutional financial aid for Blue Mountain Christian University


students. The Assistant will assist with daily financial aid operations, provide excellent customer


service, and support programs such as federal work-study and institutional scholarships.


 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


These responsibilities include but are not limited to the following activities:


 



  • Provide front-line customer service to students and families regarding financial aid questions in person, over the phone, and via email.

  • Support the management of the Federal Work-Study program and institutional scholarship programs.

  • Guide students through the completion of financial aid forms and applications.

  • Assist the Director and Associate Director of Financial Aid in all aspects of processing federal, state, and institutional financial aid.

  • Provide customer service support to students and parents in securing financial aid.


 


OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:


These responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:



  • Establishes/maintains files on all students receiving financial aid

  • Assists in the awarding of all financial aid

  • Processes paperwork required for file completion of students

  • Performs duties assigned by the Director or Associate Director of Financial Aid

  • Implements federal and state financial aid policies

  • Implements all policies and procedures of the university

  • Possesses a working knowledge of FERPA

  • Stay informed about basic financial aid policies and procedures to provide accurate information

  • Performs general office duties

  • May serve on committees

  • Lives a lifestyle congruent with university mission both on and off campus


 


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • 2-year college degree required; 4-year college degree preferable

  • Exceptional customer service skills

  • Exceptional organizational skills

  • Exceptional computer skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Proficient in all of Microsoft Office, and specifically with Microsoft Excel

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
