This position is for a Systems Engineer with a company location in Tupelo, MS.
Summary: This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Vetting Risk Operations Center (VROC), handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. Security clearance factors include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the US, foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations, and drug involvement.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Participate in initial equipment conceptual development and carefully balance product specifications, process control requirements, layout complexity, cost, quality and lead-time limits.
- Architect, write, and debug LabVIEW code with an emphasis on generating code that is organized, structured, documented, maintainable and LabVIEW code will interact with data acquisition, sensors, PLC control systems, machine vision systems, and 3rd party equipment.
- Participate in process development with emphasis on data acquisition, signal conditioning and signal processing for sensor systems.
- Participate in acoustic sensor system design, development and testing.
- Lead field testing efforts.
- Develop algorithms for sensor systems.
- Generate aesthetically simple HMI screens for complex machinery while providing sufficient feedback for troubleshooting.
- Create machine interactions with plant-wide Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to communicate product acceptability, machine status, and process variables.
Requirements and Qualifications Include:
- Bachelor or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 10-20 years' experience as a system engineer with expertise in signal processing, LabVIEW, sensor systems, and Industrial Automation.
- Proficiency with National Instruments LabView
- Proficiency with Matlab/Octave or other software development suite suitable for signal processing for algorithm development.
- Proficiency with process integration and electromechanical systems
- Field bus Networks (DeviceNet, Ethernet IP, Safety rated field bus networks).
- Serial communication (RS-232, RS-485, etc.) between devices.
- Ethernet communications between PCs, machine PLCs and database
- Experience with government sponsored field test events.
- Experience in a production environment.
- Open to travel up to 10% to customer sites.
Physical Requirements:
- Duties are performed both indoors and outdoors.
- Candidate must be able to lift 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Duties will also require extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling and lifting light to moderately heavy objects.
