Concurrent Enrollment Specialist & Career Coach

This Position is for a Concurrent Enrollment Specialist & Career Coach with an educational institution with opportunity in Gulfport, MS.


Job Description: The Concurrent Enrollment Specialist & Career Coach serves as the primary point person for the Harrison County Campus concurrent enrollment programs (Dual Credit, Dual Enrollment, Collegiate Academy, and Homeschool Academy). The position reports directly to the Director of Enrollment Services. The position serves as the counselor and liaison between the college and high school representatives for students participating in concurrent enrollment. The position works closely with the campus community to support, manage, operate, and coordinate the enrollment and retention of concurrent high school students. These departments include but are not limited to Student Services (Admissions, Registrar, Student Activities); Business Services (Bookstore, Business Office); and Teaching and Learning (Assistant Dean, Faculty). The position serves as the campus administrator of the Career Coach software and Career Exploration Center.


Job Duties:


Duties and Responsibilities:



  1. Administer College and statewide dual enrollment policies and procedures related to concurrent enrollment.

  2. Promote and develop concurrent enrollment at local high schools, private schools, and within the homeschool community.

  3. Respond to phone calls and other inquiries related to concurrent enrollment.

  4. Prepare and distribute communication to dual credit faculty, high school counselors, and other stakeholders related to concurrent enrollment procedures, calendar of dates, and deadlines.

  5. Coordinate with Admissions to collect student paperwork and forms.

  6. Receive student transcripts and concurrent enrollment verification forms required for Admissions compliance.

  7. Verify and update student records in Banner.

  8. Work with Admissions and IT staff in troubleshooting student application issues and student holds.

  9. Provide Business Office with accurate concurrent enrollment rosters for each semester’s billing of local school systems.

  10. Update Business Office regarding student withdrawals and schedule changes.

  11. Coordinate priority registration and advising for Collegiate Academy students.

  12. Collaborate with high schools to generate schedules for concurrent enrollment students that ensures high school requirements are met and balances high school extracurriculars.

  13. Communicate with faculty members to ensure proper advisement for students based on their area on interest.

  14. Run end-of-term processes for concurrently enrolled student cohorts and submit semester updates to high school counselors and administration including numerical grades when applicable.

  15. Generate reports to use in the monitoring of concurrent enrollment student attendance, grades, general progress, and program retention.

  16. Manage, facilitate, and organize concurrent enrollment student orientation sessions with Admissions, Campus Bookstore, Campus Police, and Business Office.

  17. Communicate with high school counselors to maintain accurate concurrent enrollment course rosters.

  18. Register students by collaborating with high schools to troubleshoot enrollment issues.

  19. Advise the Concurrent Enrollment Leadership Organization (CELO).

  20. Manage the campus Career Exploration Centers.

  21. Serve as campus administrator for Career Coach (software).

  22. Monitor user profiles in Career Coach and request site edits from EMSI.

  23. Update minor changes in Career Coach, including updates to programs, links, and other information.

  24. Manage the Employer Portal within Career Coach.

  25. Work with local employers to post job announcements for our students directly to our site.

  26. Provide students access to Career Coach and other physical information such as a job posting board, college brochures, and employment information.

  27. Provide career exploration workshops to current students as well as to the general public.

  28. Host EDPs for campus community.

  29. Other duties as assigned.


Mandatory Qualifications:


(M1) Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Counseling, Student Personnel, or related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.


(M2) Demonstrated ability to plan strategically and implement programs/initiatives.


(M3) Demonstrated leadership, supervision, or managerial experience.


(M4) Exceptional organization skills in handling, managing, and prioritizing multiple projects.


(M5) Excellent written and oral communication skills and excellent interpersonal communication skills to effectively contribute to team success.


(M6) Strong presentation skills.


(M7) Demonstrated success in building and maintaining positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.


Desirable Qualifications:


(D1) Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution.


(D2) Experience in a community college and/or higher education setting.


(D3) Experience with SCT Banner software.


(D4) Work experience in a multi-campus community college environment.
