The Physical Education (PE) Teacher is responsible for promoting lifelong fitness, health, and wellness among students. This role involves designing and delivering engaging lessons that develop physical skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship, while fostering a safe and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Instruction & Curriculum
• Plan, prepare, and deliver PE lessons aligned with school standards and student needs.
• Teach a variety of physical activities, including team sports, individual fitness, and recreational games.
• Incorporate health education topics such as nutrition, injury prevention, and personal wellness.
• Student Development
• Assess student progress in physical skills, fitness levels, and knowledge of health concepts.
• Encourage participation, teamwork, and respect among students.
• Adapt activities for students with varying abilities and needs.
• Safety & Supervision
• Ensure safe use of equipment and facilities.
• Maintain discipline and positive behavior management during classes and activities.
• Respond appropriately to injuries or emergencies.
• Collaboration & Communication
• Work with other teachers and staff to support whole-child development.
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress and participation.
• Organize extracurricular activities such as sports teams, clubs, or fitness programs.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or related field.
• State teaching certification/licensure in Physical Education.
• Strong knowledge of fitness, health, and sports instruction.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
