Job Summary:


 


Provides administrative and logistical support for the development, implementation, and management of continuing education programs.

 


Job Description:


 


Examples of Work Performed 




  • Secure locations and dates for professional development events. 




  • Serve as a liaison in promoting professional development programs, including representing the department at state-wide teacher conferences. 




  • Prepare materials for distribution to teachers and administrators such as fliers, agendas, and event related forms and documents. 




  • Process registration applications and payments. 




  • Maintain accurate records related to professional development events using spreadsheets and databases. 




  • Provide quality and courteous customer service to potential and registered attendees. 




  • Actively recruit educators to participate in professional development opportunities. 




  • Collaborate with other staff to design advertising campaigns using online resources (i.e. Canva, Constant Contact, myEmma).  




  • Process applications for teachers and administrators to receive continuing education credits based on attendance at professional development events. 




  • Coordinate the CMSE Manipulative Library check-out system and maintain accurate inventory records. 




 


Job Responsibilities:


 


Preferred qualifications include a bachelor's degree and at least one year experience with the duties related to the position. A quality candidate would communicate clearly, possess organizational skills, and exhibit keen attention to detail. The ideal candidate would also have experience with data tracking and record-keeping. Please include a resume and cover letter detailing your related experience.


 


These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.




  • Provide administrative support for the development, implementation, and management of continuing education programs.




  • Assist with program logistics, including course scheduling, registration, and payment processing.




  • Maintain program databases, spreadsheets, and other tools to ensure accurate and organized data management.




  • Assist with marketing and communication efforts to promote continuing education programs to target audiences.




  • Coordinate program events, including workshops, conferences, and other professional development opportunities.




 


About the Department


The Center for Mathematics and Science Education, a center within the University of Mississippi School of Education, works to improve mathematics and science education in Mississippi by fostering interaction between academic and K-12 communities, supporting the implementation of research-based methods in the classroom, and promoting interest in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).


 


Through collaborative efforts the CMSE provides professional development for K-12 math & science teachers and provides opportunities for K-12 students to engage in the STEM fields. The CMSE fosters a continuous learning community within the department by working across the Professional Learning and K-12 STEM Experiences Divisions. We engage both undergraduate and graduate students in the work of the CMSE.
