Job Title: Process Engineer for New Programs

 

Job Duties: Participate in simultaneous engineering efforts for new product development projects for PACCAR’s state-of-the-art MX engines.  Review new product design concepts, 3D models, and drawings for manufacturability.  Create and maintain project schedules for new product introduction.  Design and document manufacturing processes for new products, including SOPs, PFMEAs, control plans, layout studies, cycle time analyses, and financial analyses.  Work with project engineers to specify new tools, equipment, packaging, and other resources prior to new product launch.  Implement process changes on time and within budget for new product launch.  Support project engineering efforts during implementation of equipment commissioning and new product trial build.

 

Job Requirements:   Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering and 1 year of powertrain manufacturing experience with CNC machining centers, creating new assembly processes, and equipment installation assignments, including at least 1 year of experience in each of the following:

 

1. Assembling, diagnosing, and repairing medium- and heavy-duty diesel engines per manufacturer specifications

2. Investigating 2D Part and assembly drawings and 3D Part and assembly models to evaluate assembly processes 

3. Assembling process risk severity assessments, providing input on engine failure, assembly errors and failure effects

4. Creating assembly process and work instructions to meet a specified build rate in compliance with manufacturer quality standards

5. Testing medium and heavy-duty diesel engines using engine dynamometer and engine test cell software to analyze data, ensure engine performance within specified limits, and perform troubleshooting of error codes

6. Performing data analysis to provide assembly feedback on frequent defects and drive assembly process improvements; and

7. Using Visual Management/ Project Management tools to establish and track project timelines and to track implementation of assembly process changes, electronic part routing changes, DC tools for program updates, standard work instruction updates, equipment changes, and PFMEA updates.

Experience may be gained concurrently.  

 

Location: Full-time position with PACCAR Engine Company located in Columbus, MS.
