Position Summary
The Director of Environmental Public Health oversees programs that protect the health and safety of patients, staff, and visitors by ensuring a clean, safe, and compliant hospital environment. This role leads environmental health initiatives, manages regulatory compliance, and coordinates efforts to prevent hazards, reduce infection risks, and promote overall public health within the facility.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee environmental health programs including sanitation, waste management, water safety, and air quality.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local public health regulations.
Conduct regular inspections of hospital facilities to identify and correct environmental risks.
Lead response efforts for environmental incidents, exposures, or public health concerns.
Work closely with Infection Control, Facilities, Safety, and Clinical teams.
Develop and update environmental health policies, procedures, and training.
Monitor environmental data and prepare reports for leadership and regulatory agencies.
Support emergency preparedness and disaster response planning.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or related field; Master’s preferred.
Experience in environmental health, hospital safety, or regulatory compliance.
Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, Joint Commission, and public health standards.
Strong leadership, communication, and problemâ??solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple programs and respond quickly to environmental concerns.
