Manufacturing Engineer / Columbus
Job Title:  Manufacturing Engineer

 

Job Description: Develop new and improved manufacturing processes and provide required assembly/machining process definition and documentation.  Achieve stability in all engine related processes by establishing process FMEAs, developing and implementing process control plans, and optimizing individual workstations to maximize output.  Specify, procure, and approve necessary tools and equipment required to sustain a flexible manufacturing process. Develop and maintain new equipment project books, equipment FMEA standards, and Engineering operational standards for use across departments.  Manage facility equipment numbering, documentation, and IT system integration.  Conduct time and work sequence studies and implement required process modifications to manufacturing operations to improve quality and meet higher market demands. Support simultaneous engineering in support of new engine development projects and to plan, define and implement the related process changes. Provide direction within working groups to set priorities, project plans, and due dates. Monitor activities within the team and coordinate implementations and final reporting to area Management.  Develop procedures and plant arrangements to ensure proper material handling and storage.  Maintain control documents per ISO requirements.  Participate in commissioning and new product launch activities.  Facilitate effective communication to plant management on project status.  

 

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related field or the foreign degree equivalent and 3 years of manufacturing engineering experience, including at least 1 year of experience in each of the following: 

 

1. Applying Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies and leading Kaizen events in diverse, cross-functional manufacturing settings to identify inefficiencies and implement practical solutions to drive sustained operational and productivity improvements by reducing cycle times and non-conformance rates. 

2. Working with cross-functional teams across engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and manufacturing to successfully launch new machine models, optimizing workflow through utilization of ERP for inventory and production scheduling 

3. Working with tools installation, setup, troubleshooting, and component replacement, ensuring that equipment is calibrated on schedule and operating at optimal performance levels 

 

4. Developing and maintaining detailed Work Instructions (WIs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) using document control software and ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 quality management standards and internal audit requirements. 

 

5. Conducting time and motion studies utilizing MTM (Methods-Time Measurement) techniques and video analysis tools to evaluate and optimize assembly line workflows for multiple vehicle models. 

 

6. Developing and executing structured change management plans, monitoring change impact through KPIs including production uptime and employee proficiency metrics 

 

Experience may be gained concurrently.  

 

Location: Full-time position with PACCAR Engine Company located in Columbus, MS.
