Inventory Management Specialist
Location: Columbus, MS
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday | Day Shift (8 Hours)
Position Summary
The Inventory Management Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory of raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations. This position ensures inventory accuracy through routine audits, timely material issuance, and accurate ERP transactions while supporting production schedules and maintaining compliance with company quality standards. The Inventory Management Specialist works closely with Purchasing, Production, Scheduling, Shipping, and Quality teams to optimize inventory flow, minimize waste, and promote continuous improvement throughout the facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Pull, stage, and deliver raw materials and components to production areas according to daily manufacturing schedules.
· Issue materials accurately and efficiently to prevent production delays.
· Receive, verify, and properly store incoming materials and inventory.
· Process inventory transactions including receipts, material issues, transfers, adjustments, and returns using the company's ERP system.
· Perform routine cycle counts and physical inventory audits to ensure inventory accuracy.
· Investigate inventory discrepancies, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
· Maintain accurate lot, batch, and serial number traceability.
· Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory practices and ensure compliance with quality standards.
· Monitor inventory levels and communicate material shortages, excess inventory, or potential supply concerns to appropriate departments.
· Collaborate with Purchasing, Production Planning, Shipping, and Quality personnel to support efficient production operations.

· Maintain organized inventory storage locations to maximize space utilization and material accessibility.
· Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve inventory processes and warehouse organization.
· Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all company safety policies and procedures.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· High school diploma or GED required.
· Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, or a related field is preferred.
· Two (2) to four (4) years of experience in inventory control, warehousing, manufacturing logistics, or a related manufacturing environment.
· Experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
· Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
· Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
· Ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive movements.
· Ability to safely operate forklifts and other powered industrial equipment.
· Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and exposure to dust.
