QA Inspector I

SOL Engineering Services, LLC is searching for a Quality Assurance Inspector I to independently inspect a few standardized procedure items or operations of limited difficulty. Assignments involve independent record-keeping and preparation of reports, inspection and testing, interpretation of plans and specifications, and observation of construction activities to check adherence to safety practices and requirements. Contacts involve obtaining information on the sequence of operations and work methods, explaining standard requirements of plans and specifications, and informing the contractor of inspection results.

Requirements

+ Interprets plans and specifications relating to construction problems of normal difficulty for which there are precedents and those without unusual complications

+ Resolves differences between plans and specifications when such differences do not involve questions of cost or engineering design

+ Provides authorization to approve minor deviations in construction methods and practices which conform to established precedents, do not involve added costs and are consistent with contract plans and specifications

+ Provides final decisions on the acceptability of construction methods and practices, workmanship, materials, and the finished product

+ Inspection reports are reviewed for accuracy, completeness, and adequacy

+ Desirable to have a working knowledge of construction industry codes relating to their area of expertise (i.e. ACI, AWS, ASME, NEC, etc.)

+ Must have a working knowledge of various crafts and their associated special processes, inspection, and testing techniques

+ Certifications from AWS, ACI, ICBO, ASNT, NACE, API etc. may be required for certain positions

+ Based on the level of experience and skills. Associate degree in engineering technology or science plus two years of experience in a related construction field (at least one of these years in a QA/QC position); or a high school graduate or equivalent (GED) plus four years of experience in a related construction field (at least two of these years in a QA/QC position)

+ Will work inside and outside and will require some overnight stays when involved with offsite projects and locations

+ Must be dependable and an open communicator

+ Desirable to have basic computer skills and knowledge of spreadsheets
