**Job Description:**

**GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION**

An instructor's position is campus based, serving the academic needs of the assigned campus(es). Instructors are to teach assigned classes according to the overall goals and objectives of the department. Additional responsibilities of the instructor would include keeping appropriate assigned office hours to facilitate class preparation and student advisement; participating in department, college and campus committee work; and submitting all necessary paper work to assure proper documentation of student attendance, and evaluation; as well as other assigned tasks.

**EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE**

Associate of Applied Sciences (A.A.S)/Associate of Arts (A.A.), undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Networking, Computer Programming or similar field, and CompTIA A+ IT Technician or Microsoft® Technology Associate Networking Certification. A minimum of two years of related work or teaching experience. Must meet faculty qualifications as identified by the college and have three years teaching/work experience in the field assigned.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** , include the following.

+ Understanding of and commitment to the comprehensive community college mission.

+ Ability to create and facilitate student-centered environments.

+ Understanding of and ability to work with academic, developmental, and transfer programs.

+ Knowledge of contemporary and innovative methods of instructional delivery and curriculum development including the use of technology for instructional delivery.

+ Ability to work as a team player in multi-cultural diverse working environment.

+ Teach a standard load of 15 to 17 semester hours in Information Systems Technology courses; plan lessons to include Assessment Prep courses; recruiting, retention and student placement; work with advisory committee and college staff in maintaining an up-to-date and viable quality program. Provide a learning environment that supports student success, implement effective learning strategies and deliver high quality instruction.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

+ Implements the specific aims of the College and Department byParticipating in developing and implementing of campus and Department policies, procedures, and objectives.Participating in developing, and implementing annual goals for the department.Maintaining current credentials as required in respective field.Teaching the number of class sections assigned according to Board policies.Using teaching techniques that include the effective utilization of resources that motivate students to achieve their potential.Providing necessary information about and for students. This information would include syllabi, attendance/grade reports, and class exams/ assignments.Setting aside sufficient time for student conferences, guidance, and tutorial assistance.Working a minimum of 37.5 hours each week on campus during the fall and spring semesters and verify monthly the hours worked.Attending general faculty, division, and departmental meetings.Participating in student/teacher and faculty/administrator evaluations and performance review conferences.Developing personal and professional improvement plans in those areas deemed necessary as a result of evaluations.Participating in staff development activities, professional associations, presentations, publications, applied educational research, consulting, evaluations, and similar activities which enhance the individual and the education profession but which do not interfere with teaching duties.Serving on committees as appointed.Participating in formulation, execution, and evaluations of departmental goals and objectives.Participating in the selection of textbook and library materials.Following the required institutional process for recording student attendance and identifying 'no-shows" in a timely manner.Participating in the establishment, assessment, and review of Student Learning Outcomes.Other duties may be assigned.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, and the employee is occasionally required to perform job responsibilities in the outdoors and off site.
