Job Summary
  This  Spring 2026 Internship   position (Reporting, Videography, and Photography) is a paid, hands-on opportunity for students and recent graduates to gain real-world experience in   community journalism. Interns will contribute to impactful storytelling through   reporting, photography, and videography, helping to inform and engage underserved communities in Southeast Mississippi. This internship is open to:
Current journalism and communication students from Mississippi colleges and universities  who are passionate about multimedia journalism and storytelling.
Recent graduates who completed a degree in journalism, communication, photography, media production, or a related field between Fall 2004 and Fall 2005.
The internship is available at our Hattiesburg, Long Beach, and Jackson locations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities 
+  Research, report, and write compelling news stories that reflect needs and interests of local communities. 
+ Capture high-quality photographs and/or video content that complement written stories and enhance digital and broadcast reporting.
+ Edit and produce multimedia content for publication across various platforms, including web, social media, and partner news outlets.
+ Conduct interviews with sources, including local leaders, residents, and experts to create in-depth and balanced reporting.
+ Work collaboratively with other interns and RHCJC staff to develop engaging, well researched journalism.
+ Adhere to ethical journalism practices, fact-checking, and verification processes to ensure accuracy and credibility.
+ Assist in producing content for special projects, including community engagement initiatives and media literacy efforts.
+ Meet deadlines and participate in regular team meetings and editorial planning sessions.
+ Represent RHCJC at community events, news conferences, and field reporting assignments.
+  Perform other duties as assigned by the center director.
