Anchor- Senior Software Engineer
Enterprise Technology at Ford is building intuitive, data?rich shopping experiences that help customers quickly find in?stock vehicles that match their needs. As an Anchor you'll ship a fast, accessible, and localized UI in React/Next.js, working closely with design, platform, and data partners to turn complex inventory, pricing, and eligibility signals into a simple, confident search journey.

What you'll do...

+ Build world class search UI in React + Next.js: autosuggest/typeahead, smart facets & filters, sort, map/list views, pagination, and resilient empty/no results recovery.

+ Performance ownership: meet Core Web Vitals and p95 latency targets using App Router, SSR/ISR/RSC, streaming/Suspense, code splitting, and server/edge caching.

+ Accessibility & i18n: deliver WCAG 2.2 AA patterns (comboboxes, lists, dialogs), strong keyboard navigation, screen reader flows, robust localization (including RTL), and ensure Accessibility compliance.

+ Data integration: consume REST/GraphQL APIs for dealer inventory, availability, pricing signals and incentives; design graceful UI for partial data, rate limits, and timeouts.

+ Quality & reliability: write clean, maintainable code; add unit/integration/E2E tests (Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright); participate in reviews and CI quality gates.

+ Verifies that the delivered software product/s meets desired business outcomes.

+ Design system: contribute reusable, documented Search components (Storybook) with visual and a11y regression coverage.

+ Security & privacy: apply CSP, input sanitization, cookie/session hygiene, and privacy aware analytics.

+ Prioritize, plan, and deliver the product.

+ Champion Agile software processes, culture, best practices, and techniques.

+ Own Feature definition and Prioritized Feature PI list.

+ Elaborate User Stories and Tasks.

+ Onboard new Engineers and provide knowledge transfers.

+ Coordinate deployments with SRE team and provide approvals when needed.

You'll have...

+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field OR a combination of education and equivalent experience.

+ 7+ years building production web applications with JavaScript/TypeScript and React; production Next.js experience.

+ Deep understanding of Next.js (App Router, SSR/ISR/RSC, streaming) and modern data fetching/caching on Server/Edge.

+ Proven track record meeting Core Web Vitals (LCP/INP/CLS) and managing performance budgets at scale.

+ Solid accessibility (WCAG 2.2 AA) and hands on internationalization/localization experience (incl. RTL).

+ Experience integrating REST/GraphQL services and strong client side state/data patterns (e.g., TanStack Query/SWR/Redux Toolkit).

+ Working knowledge of CI/CD (e.g., Jenkins, Tekton, GitHub Actions) and Git based workflows.

+ Strong understanding of a public cloud provider (GCP, AWS, or Azure).

Even better, you may have...

+ Elasticsearch fundamentals (analyzers, synonyms) and search relevance literacy.

+ Geospatial/mapping UX (radius, clustering) for "near me" inventory scenarios.

+ Node.js familiarity for Next.js server/edge routes; feature flagging and experimentation platforms.

+ Observability (logs/metrics/traces) and web security best practices.

This position is a salary grade 8.
