**About the role**
As a **Senior QA Engineer with Database & Backend Testing** , you will make an impact by ensuring robust and efficient testing of backend systems and databases for critical applications. You will be a valued member of our Quality Engineering team and collaborate closely with offshore teams and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
**In this role, you will:**
+ Participate in daily stand-up calls and provide status updates.
+ Manage and mentor offshore testing teams to ensure timely delivery.
+ Update and maintain automation frameworks for backend and database testing.
+ Develop functional test cases and automation scripts for backend validation.
+ Perform functional and automated regression testing to ensure system stability.

**What you need to have to be considered**
+ 5+ years of experience in database and backend testing.
+ Strong knowledge of SQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle) and stored procedure testing.
+ Proficiency in mocking techniques for database interactions using Mockito, JMock, WireMock, or similar frameworks.
+ Hands-on experience with unit testing frameworks such as JUnit, NUnit, or TestNG.
+ Expertise in writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers for test validation.
+ Experience in CI/CD automation with tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
+ Familiarity with API testing and backend validation using Postman, Rest Assured, or SoapUI.

+ Experience with performance testing tools and strategies.
+ Exposure to cloud-based testing environments.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent communication abilities.

**Salary and Other Compensation:**

The annual salary for this position is between $71,100 to 112,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
