Project Accountant
Description

Robert Half is partnering with a rapidly growing company delivering large-scale mechanical and building systems projects across commercial and industrial markets. As their project portfolio continues to expand, we are seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to support the financial management of multiple construction projects and ensure accurate project cost tracking and reporting.

Position Overview

The Project Accountant will work closely with project managers and the finance team to monitor project financial performance, manage job cost reporting, and ensure accurate billing and revenue recognition. This role plays a key part in helping leadership understand project profitability and maintain strong financial controls.

Key Responsibilities

+ Manage project accounting functions for multiple HVAC construction projects

+ Track job costs, budgets, and project financial performance

+ Prepare and submit progress billings, change orders, and project invoices

+ Monitor project budgets and perform cost-to-complete and variance analysis

+ Reconcile project costs, subcontractor invoices, and purchase orders

+ Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes related to project work

+ Assist project managers with financial forecasting and reporting

+ Maintain accurate project records within the company's accounting or ERP system

+ Support month-end close activities related to project accounting

+ Ensure compliance with company policies and construction accounting standards

Requirements

Required Qualifications

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or related field

+ 2-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or project-based environments

+ Strong understanding of job costing, project billing, and revenue recognition

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools

+ Experience working with ERP or construction accounting software

+ Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

+ Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
