**Job Description:**
CDM Smith is seeking a Digital Design Manager to lead the firm's Digital Design team within the Design Technology Group and help advance the firm's Digital Engineering Solutions capabilities. This role sets the strategic direction for enterprise digital design platforms and operating models, aligning technology capabilities with business objectives to improve efficiency, quality, and collaboration across project
delivery.
The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in design technology and enterprise platform programs, with demonstrated success in people leadership, operational management, and innovation strategy. This role requires a strong blend of technical fluency, operational oversight, and stakeholder engagement to translate strategic vision into scalable, enterprise?ready digital design capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Design Strategy & Roadmap
- Define and execute the long term vision and technology roadmap for the Digital Design function.
- Prioritize initiatives based on business value, scalability, and risk reduction, ensuring alignment with corporate and delivery goals.
- Establish governance for the intake, evaluation, and lifecycle management of platforms, standards, and reusable assets.
Platform Operations & Governance
- Lead enterprise configuration and optimization of core design platforms, including Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), ProjectWise, and related tools.
- Establish and maintain governance models for platforms, workflows, configuration baselines, and administrative standards.
- Partner with IT, Security, and regional administrators to ensure platform stability, performance, compliance, and appropriate access controls.
- Oversee change management, testing, and release readiness for platform updates, integrations, and new capabilities.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop the Digital Design team, including hiring, performance management, and professional development.
- Establish clear roles, operating rhythms, and standards of work that reinforce accountability, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Foster collaboration across Digital Practice, Design Automation, PMIS Technology, IT, and regional teams.
- Champion digital innovation and drive adoption of new tools, standards, and workflows across the organization.
- Lead change initiatives by building stakeholder alignment, removing barriers, and sustaining adoption.
- Communicate outcomes, risks, and investment needs through executive ready reporting and decision support.
Performance, Budgeting & Reporting
- Own the Digital Design budget, resource allocation, and initiative prioritization.
- Define and track KPIs and OKRs related to platform performance, adoption, reliability, and business value.
- Use data and post implementation reviews to drive continuous improvement and demonstrate ROI.
Vendor & Partner Management
- Manage strategic relationships with software vendors, industry partners, and academic or professional organizations.
- Coordinate vendor roadmaps, escalations, contracts, and enterprise support models.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and pilots, scaling successful capabilities through governed rollout plans.
Enterprise Collaboration
- Partner with corporate functions on enterprise initiatives such as procurement, data governance, risk management, and service integration.
- Align digital design technology direction across regions and disciplines to enable consistent delivery outcomes.

**Minimum Qualifications:**
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent related experience.
- 10+ years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
- Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a college degree.
Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Experience leading enterprise platform programs (migrations, integrations, governance, or operating model transformations).
- Bachelor's degree and/or Masters degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Information Systems, or a closely related field highly preferred.
- Working knowledge of identity, security, and compliance concepts as applied to AECO platforms.
- Experience establishing shared services or federated administrative models across multiple regions.
- Familiarity with automation and data strategies (e.g., Power Platform, APIs, metadata standards).
- Professional certifications such as PMP, ITIL, or Autodesk/Bentley platform credentials.
- Participation in vendor advisory councils, beta programs, or industry working groups.

**Skills and Abilities:**
- Deep expertise in design technology, with strong technical fluency across AECO design technology ecosystems and significant experience in management, leadership, and innovation strategy.
- Proven ability to develop and execute enterprise?level technical strategies, including roadmap development, portfolio prioritization, and long?range planning.
- Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and align business units and corporate functions.
- Demonstrated experience leading change management and adoption planning for enterprise platform, workflow, and operating model rollouts.

$122,595
**Pay Range Maximum:**
$214,510
**Additional Compensation:**
All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
