We are seeking a highly experienced **Senior Storage Engineer (L3)** to provide end-to-end engineering ownership of enterprise storage platforms. This role is responsible for ensuring **stability, performance, capacity optimization, and compliance** for archival and object storage workloads.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in **Dell EMC ECS storage** **environments** , coupled with strong troubleshooting, governance, and operational leadership skills in large-scale enterprise environments.
**Salary and Other Compensation:**
**The annual salary for this position is between $90,000 to $103,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.**
**This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.**
**In this role, you will**
· Provide **end-to-end L3 ownership** of the enterprise Storage environment, ensuring availability, reliability, performance, and operational health.
· Drive **capacity planning, performance tuning, and optimization** for Dell EMC ECS storage platforms, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
· Plan, execute, and validate **firmware upgrades, storage expansions, and platform changes** through formal change management processes.
· Lead complex **troubleshooting, incident resolution, and root cause analysis (RCA)** using ECS logs, diagnostics, and monitoring tools.
· Act as the primary escalation point and coordinate with **Dell OEM/vendor support** for hardware/software issues and critical escalations.
· Govern and manage **ECS replication, archival strategies, retention policies, and disaster recovery (DR)** configurations.
· Support **LDAP/Active Directory integration** , ECS node/pool configurations, and enforce platform-level **security controls** .
· Generate and validate **compliance reports** , including retention, access audits, legal hold requirements, and regulatory evidence.
· Develop and maintain **L3 SOPs, runbooks, and operational standards** to drive consistency and enable L2 shift-left capabilities.
**What you'll need to succeed (required skills)**
· 8+ years of experience in enterprise **Storage Engineering / Administration** roles.
· Strong expertise in **Dell EMC ECS (Elastic Cloud Storage)** platforms.
· Experience with **Dell, EMC, and NetApp storage technologies** .
· Deep understanding of **object storage, archival systems, and data lifecycle management** .
· Proven ability in **capacity planning, performance tuning, and storage optimization** .
· Hands-on experience with **firmware upgrades, storage expansions, and infrastructure lifecycle management** .
· Strong troubleshooting skills with expertise in **log analysis and RCA methodologies** .
· Experience working with **LDAP/Active Directory integration and security controls** .
· Knowledge of **compliance, retention policies, and audit frameworks** in enterprise environments.
· Familiarity with **disaster recovery (DR) strategies and data replication technologies** .
**Preferred Skills**
· Experience supporting **healthcare or regulated industry environments** (HIPAA compliance exposure preferred).
· Strong understanding of **enterprise change management processes (ITIL framework)** .
· Experience working in **remote/global delivery models** .
· Excellent communication skills with ability to engage with **vendors, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams** .
